Complex Mental Health

Some people come to therapy with several things happening at once.

I work with people experiencing Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, Psychosis and other complex or ongoing mental health concerns.

My background includes public mental health, Crisis Assessment and Treatment, and Substance Use and Mental Illness Treatment, and I work closely with psychiatrists and other mental health professionals, supporting people through periods of significant mental health difficulty.

Concerns I often work with

  • Bipolar Disorder, including its impact on relationships and daily life

  • Schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders

  • Psychosis, including substance and stimulant-induced psychosis

  • Ongoing or persistent mental health difficulties

  • Mental health and substance use difficulties occurring together

  • Several mental health concerns occurring at the same time

  • Suicidality and self-harm

  • Supporting family members and loved ones affected by mental illness

Mental health concerns don't always occur in isolation and can increase vulnerability to other stressors, such as physical health issues, relationships, addictions, family circumstances and other pressures.

Therapy can be one part of a broader treatment plan. Alongside counselling and psychoeducation, we can look at what's happening in your life now, what support you have around you and what might help things feel more manageable.

Where appropriate, I can also help connect you with community supports, including peer-led groups and other services that can work alongside psychiatric care.
