Keir Mathews
Psychotherapist | Couples Counsellor
I am an intuitive and empathetic Mental Health Clinician, with over twenty years’ experience gained in hospitals, disability, rehabilitation, and counselling services. I treat the whole person in context - this means I consider psychological, biological and social aspects of health and well being.
I provide mental health and therapeutic services for individuals (15+), couples and families, in person, online and over the phone, and I provide appointments outside of school/work hours, including weekends.
My areas of interest include: trauma and neglect, parenting and attachment styles, Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) use and addictions. I also work with clients diagnosed with Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Schizophrenia and BiPolar.
My practice is safe and welcoming for everyone, including anyone who identifies as LGBTQIA+, Culturally and Linguistically Diverse and First Nations people.
Prior to private practice, I held teaching roles at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and I worked alongside Psychiatrists on the Crisis Assessment (CATT) and Substance Use and Mental Illness Treatment teams.
When I am not working, I enjoy time with my family, gardening and bush walking, and I love getting out of town when I can.
